SWOT — Live Satellite Tracking (NORAD 54754)
SWOT is a NASA–CNES satellite that surveys Earth’s oceans, lakes and rivers. The tracking catalog lists it as SWOT (NORAD catalog number 54754); follow it live on the WatchSat interactive 3D globe above. Its position is propagated in real time from the latest CelesTrak two-line element set using the SGP4/SDP4 orbital model — the same math professional trackers run. It has been on orbit since 2022, launched on the 173rd orbital launch of that year (COSPAR designation 2022-173A). As of this element set it had completed roughly 19,680 revolutions of Earth.
Moving at about 7.40 km/s, SWOT flies in low Earth orbit at an altitude of roughly 900 × 901 km, completing one revolution every 102.8 minutes — about 14.0 trips around Earth per day. The orbit is essentially circular (eccentricity 0.0000). Inclined 77.6° to the equator, it overflies every latitude up to about 78° north and south. Its orbital plane crosses the equator northbound at right ascension 225.0°. Earth's equatorial bulge drifts that plane westward about 1.35° per day.
